Brown-Burke: Retire Reid in Public Interest

Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Angela Brown-Burke has again weighed in on the decision concerning the future of Jamaica College Principal Ruel Reid. Reid, who has been before the courts in a fraud matter which led to his resignation as Education Minister, is yet to know his fate as principal of the school.

The JC Board is awaiting a response on the matter from the Education Minister. The Minister told CVM Live on Tuesday, November 16, that she would provide a response soon. Reid had been on secondment while serving as Minister, and had a special leave extended since the case, but has sought another extension which is under consideration. His leave is set to end soon.

The Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Angela Brown-Burke was passionate about the issue, which has been dogging the oldest high school in the country.

Up to Tuesday, November 16, when CVM Live spoke to the Education Minister, Fayval Williams she was unable to say when exactly a decision will be made concerning Reid’s fate at the institution.

Dr. Brown Burke went further reiterating suggestions the JC Board raised in a recent letter to the Education Minister. She insists if that is not possible the Board should take further actions which she says many will support.
