A four-inch pipeline beneath one of St. Thomas’ major thoroughfares was damaged recently disrupting vehicular traffic as motorists struggled to avoid a pond formed in the middle of the roadway.

The National Works Agency’s (NWC) Acting Communications and Customer Services Manager Dainalyn Swaby says the pipeline has since been repaired. She notes the water has now been cleared from the center of the roadway. However, Swaby is advising persons using the area for leisure, to refrain from doing so.

A team from the National Water Commission was at the location on Monday to repair the pipeline. Calls made to the NWC for an update proved futile. Watch the report for more details:
