Following the recent landslide on June 29, 2021, in Lucea, Hanover, there has been a call for the construction of a bypass.
The landslide caused disruption to the motoring public and now one stakeholder is joining the call for a bypass to be constructed to facilitate traffic in Lucea heading into Montego or Negril.
On Tuesday scores of motorists had to be rerouted to get to their destination as the Johnson Town main road was blocked as a result of a landslide due to heavy rainfall on Monday.
President of the Negril Chamber of Commerce, Richard Wallace, says Tuesday’s land slippage in Hanover, highlights the urgent need for a bypass to be constructed for the town of Lucea.
This as he notes it will be a massive investment while providing an alternative route.
several persons allegedly missed their flights at The Sangster International Airport due to the delay caused by the landslide.
Wallace is also calling for a bypass through the settlement of Hopewell in the parish.
