With only seven burial spots left at the Hopewell Cemetery in eastern Hanover, which serves other surrounding communities, residents appeal to the Government for an urgent fix. Questioning the issue of overcrowding the members call for the need to de-bush the burial site, this is believed to be a storage area for guns and ammunition, due to the forest of overgrown plants in the cemetery.
When CVM Live visited the area one man laments the need for de-bushing as he described the deplorable state of the Hopewell Cemetery. He further disclosed there is a house on the cemetery’s property used for shelter in the event of funeral services or rain, but the bathroom infrastructure is in a dilapidated state. Also, the burial site is shared by other communities which results in overcrowding. Councillor of the Hopewell division, Jeffrey Brown is appealing to the municipal corporation in the parish to address the current cemetery woes. Watch the full report:
