On a tour of St. Elizabeth this week, Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang pledges support for officers in St. Elizabeth, as he crafts plans to tackle crime across the country.
Following recent reports of Jamaica recording over eleven murders in just twenty-four hours Minister Dr. Horace Chang says he’s confident the police are equipped to tackle crime.
In an effort to address crime, Dr. Chang says he’s taking note of the resources, or the lack thereof that the police possess. He says a new police station will be built in Lacovia, St. Elizabeth that is projected to cost 175 – 200 million dollars.
Minister Chang is also resorting to the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems that were implemented as part of the Jamaica eye crime-fighting tool in recent years. He says several CCTV systems were installed in the parish three years ago.
