Chang: “Once A Police Officer, Always A Police Officer”

As the government implements and executes plans to curtail crime in the country, there is a concern for the safety of officers of the law while off duty or on vacation who may become a target for criminals.

Speaking with CVM LIVE recently, Deputy Prime Minister and Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang sought to respond to a question posed regarding police officer having their firearms while off duty and on vacation.

This concern was raised after a police officer was gunned down while off duty in St. Thomas. The minister in his response notes a police officer is always on the job. In the meantime, while states of emergency have been implemented to curtail crime in specific communities, criminals have seemingly migrated to other parishes. Watch the report:
