A chance at survival should emergencies arise, this opening of the new and improved Chapelton Community Hospital has left residents and stakeholders joyful this December. The facility has been closed since the upgrades began in 2019. It reopened its doors this week to grateful residents in Clarendon north central.
Funding came from various sources. Phase one of the two-phased project was financed by a US$1 million donation by Jamaican businesswoman and philanthropist, Beverly Nichols, through her Push Start Foundation. Clarendon born, Nichols now resides in North America.
The Prime Minister and Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, both agreed that residents ought to play a more active role in protecting their health even as the government seeks to provide better health services.
