A family foundation that officially started some 13 years ago, has resumed donations in Greendale, St. Catherine after a setback caused by the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
The Harris family Vision Donation provides care packages, back to school supplies and scholarships to people in need. As Jamaicans anticipate the return of pre-pandemic activities, charity organizations have been making a comeback. The latest of which occurred in Greendale at the senior centre, where senior citizens in the area received donations in the form of food packages. President of the Harris family vision foundation, responsible for the donations, Michael Harris, says the family-based organization also provides scholarships for students.
He says the foundation has been in operation for more than 12 years, and has donated to a various events. Shanielle Campbell, the recipient of a scholarship that covers her tuition, says the foundation’s contribution has helped her tremendously. The senior citizens also expressed gratitude for the foundation’s return, and the donations of food supply they receive.
Mr. Harris has received several awards for volunteerism, and over 30 years of donations.
