At least ten people were shot, three fatally in the brazen daylight chase and shooting incident in Montego Bay, (MoBay) St. James shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6.
Among them, 27 year old Leon Brown a bartender from Gully, 20 year old Rashard Watson otherwise called Blackman of Glendevon, and 18 year old Robert Headley otherwise called Ten Ten from MoBay, all in the parish.
Images swiftly circulated showing the ghastly scenes of the injured men Wednesday. Reports are that the deceased and two others were travelling from a funeral along west gate main road, MoBay in A Black Toyota Mark X, when they observed that they were being followed by a white motor car suspiciously.
They turned onto cottage road, a one way street, to elude the trailing vehicle. Reports are that a group of men travelling in the white motor car opened gunfire from rifles and handguns through the windows at the Mark X. The shooting continued along Mccathy Street where they collided with another car and crashed into a building at the intersection of Carnaldi Avenue and Hart Street.
The men in the white motor car reportedly continued to open gunfire at the vehicle. Brown ran from the vehicle and was chased and shot multiple times. The men then left the scene in the white motor vehicle. Upon the arrival of the police brown’s body was seen along the roadway and Watson’s in the back seat of the black Mark X motor car both in a pool of blood and suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.
Headley received injuries to the head and upper body, the lone female passenger received injuries to her hand and head and the other occupant to his upper body. The three men were pronounced dead at hospital.
Meanwhile, onlookers who were along the cottage road in the vicinity of the post office awaiting transportation to their homes reported that they received injuries of what appeared to be gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Two men who were in a barber shop along cottage road also reported that they received injuries. One of them his upper right arm and left foot and the other to his left hand and left eye. They remain in stable condition.
A ten year old student and her mother who were travelling along Mccathy Street in a vehicle also suffered gunshot wounds. The 10 year old, who was shot in the head, remains in hospital in critical condition. Her mother told CVM Live the child’s been experiencing bleeding on the brain and could go into surgery. Though responsive the mother says her daughter suffered damage to the left ear and jaw where the bullet entered and exited. She says doctors say the bullet may have also touched the spine. The mother was also grazed by a bullet.
