China Urges U.S. To Stop Slandering Its Ties With Jamaica

We begin this evening with a CVM Live follow up…China has hit back at the US government for what it describes as frequent political intimidation regarding its relationship with  Jamaica and its growing presence in the Caribbean. The following statements by US charge D’affaires John Mcintyre on Monday.  A Chinese diplomat at the embassy in Jamaica issued a statement on Tuesday.

In a statement, Tuesday, spokesperson at the Chinese Embassy, Xia Shaowu says

Quote “for quite some time, the united states has been abusing state power to bring down Chinese high-tech companies under the pretext of national security, to which China is firmly opposed. Such practice has no factual basis at all and is sheer malicious slander and political manipulation in an attempt to maintain its high-tech monopoly- unquote.

This Mr Xia says is the U.S’ typical behavior, one he says that runs against market principles and international trade rules.

On Monday, the United States Embassy announced the signing of an MOU with Jamaica and the US trade and development agency for greater transparency in the awarding of govt contracts.

However, Charge D’affaires John Mcintyre also inserted the U.S’ concerns about the region’s 5g future security.

China and the US have been in a power struggle over trade and technology. Both countries rolled out 5g technologies in 2019.

5g is the fifth-generation of mobile internet connectivity. It promises much faster data download and upload speeds, wider coverage and more stable connections.

But according to the U.S, china’s passive aggression in the form of assistance in the Caribbean  is worrying.

The Chinese spokesman says politicizing relevant issues or creating cliques won’t be conducive to 5g progress.
