Following a number of killings in Spanish Town this week, the nation’s Clergymen have partnered to help reduce the numbers through their ministry. Several pastors gathered in Spanish Town on Saturday to execute a “walk against crime” initiative, in hopes of attaining the desired goal. Radical measures are being introduced by a group of well-known clergymen to bolster crime fighting and crime prevention in Jamaica.
The men, through use of the church and the Christian message are confident they are the missing piece of the puzzle that is needed to complete a solid crime plan.
Chairman of the ten thousand men and family movement, Bishop Rohan Edwards says Jamaica cannot continue on its current path. He’s urging the government to provide the church with the relevant resources to carry out their unique crime plan; which he vows will reap positive results. The group says it will embark on an all island tour against crime, insisting more needs to be done to tame the crime monster. The police recently announced an increase in the number of murders, but a decline in serious crimes. The Pastors say that despite the decrease the rate is still too high.
