Citizens Express Dwindling Confidence In Financial Institutions

Admittedly, citizens acknowledge that they have always been skeptical of banks, however, these repeated instances of fraud heighten their distrust. Despite the tale of banks being insured to guarantee a return on stolen money, citizens lament the rigorous process before the funds are returned, if at all.

This, as they raise concern for how these scandals sully Jamaica’s image, specifically as it relates to investors and the impact on the country’s development overall. Meanwhile, some say they feel forced to trust banks, given the limited options provided.

Looking forward, citizens suggest financial institutions implement a system that will provide a periodic report on their accounts. As they raise concerns about higher interest rates, and other challenges making them even more disinterested in these institutions.
