Promoting peace in Clarendon communities and schools is the goal of some residents who partnered with the police to create awareness in the parish on peace day recently.
Residents note the struggle with crime can be lessened if more communities get on board through neighbourhood watch groups. Resolving conflict without resorting to violence was the message on peace day Tuesday.
President of the Clarendon Neighbourhood Watch Council Ryland Kerr says the movement aims to target communities and schools advocating for peace in the parish. Head of the community and safety branch, DSP Owen Brown is encouraging residents to come on board of the council to rid their communities of crime and violence.
He adds the recently formed council aims to target as many communities as possible. Meanwhile, DSP Brown insists a community without peace is a community without value.
