As promised, the cleanup process has been initiated within the Walkers Avenue community in Portmore. The residents are now witnessing more optimistic times as the efforts to recover are being expedited. Last Thursday, political representatives, in collaboration with members of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), took action in the Walkers Avenue community of Portmore to commence the cleanup operations. Alando Terrelonge, the Member of Parliament for East Central St Catherine, emphasized that this effort is an integral part of the government’s social intervention program.
Following a devastating fire that affected a total of eleven houses, Terrelonge assures the community that while the remaining structures are currently serving as temporary housing, there are plans in place to eventually reconstruct all the houses situated on the premises.
