Commissioner of Police, Antony Anderson in ‘A Force for Good Pod-cast’ says that the Constabulary has been making significant strides scientifically. A move he says has ultimately seen them gathering strong information to make formidable cases in the courts.
Many times, the statistics which highlight the frequency of violence and crime sometimes dampen the efforts made Jamaica Constabulary Force. Commissioner of Police Antony Anderson says while some citizens may question the progress of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) as it relates to the rate of violent crime, he says he can attest to many areas, critical to modern policing, where the force has improved.
Anderson reports that ballistic evidence processing is one such example with an improvement of 35%. He further explain that the improvement became possible after a member of the team created software. “The improvements on the scientific side of the force have resulted in a 110% increase in firearms processing completion,” says the Commissioner of Police.
Anderson also highlighted the 69% increase in cyber forensic case completion as well as a significant 145% increase in firearms linked to crime scenes. The access to DNA software he says also helps in making a strong case in the courts.
