According to one Epidemiologist at the World Health Organization (WHO), there are many facets to the Delta variant. This as health officials are conducting extensive studies. Meanwhile, Japan recorded some 10,000 COVID-19 cases and is currently hosting the 2020 Olympics Games.
However, according to Irish Epidemiologist Dr. Michael Ryan, the Director General’s visit to Tokyo was to highlight the need for unity.
Meanwhile, 4 million cases have been reported to the World Health Organization over the last two weeks, and the Delta variant is a major concern.
Speaking at the W.H.O’S media briefing on Friday, July 30, American Epidemiologist Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove sought to explain there are many factors involved as to why the strain is becoming more dominant. Dr. Van Kerkhove says while health officials across the globe are working assiduously to eradicate the virus, she points out the mortality rate is on a minimal level.
