Correctional Facilities Receive Support In Reducing Recidivism

Correctional Facilities island wide have benefited from 620,000 pounds in support aid from the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), to improve its capacity, reduce recidivism and provide reintegration support to offenders.

The FCDO has provided this support through its Jamaica Strategic Corrections partnership, which ended recently.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of National Security Matthew Samuda says the donation is not solely about funds but rather the time and energy that is dedicated, which is integral in the Security Ministry.

British High Commissioner to Jamaica Asif Ahmad outlined the impetus of the project stating that this will not be only for one specific facility, however all Correctional Facilities around the island.
