Councillors Call for Increased Litter Fines

Minority Leader at the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) Councillor, Andrew Swaby is calling on the government to strengthen the Litter Act. Councillor Swaby and others say it is essential to increase fines for improper garbage disposal. He was addressing a Council Meeting on Tuesday.

With the maximum fine of $10,000 for breaching the Litter Act Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation Councillor, Andrew Swaby is calling for an increase in fines. He says more severe action is needed to help in eliminating improper disposal by business operators supporting the call for increased fines. Councillor of Norbrook  Division  Susan Senior says the decision for increased fines to the Litter Act will promote a clean environment.
