Standing in front of the closed gates of the once lively Yallahs market in St. Thomas, Councillor for the division John Lee plants his feet, ready to stand firm against the runnings and operation within the space. Referencing the first Finance Committee meeting at the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation for 2023, Councillor Lee says the Paul Bogle Foundation wrote to the Parish Council seeking a re-lease of the market space, which insinuates that the lease agreement is coming to an end.
But Councillor Lee says he has yet to see a document of the lease for both parties. Noting the resident’s frustration, he says they are willing to take action. The Councillor emphasized the need for the market to resume its function to the people of Yallahs, who it was initially created to benefit.
