COVID-19 hospitalizations in western Jamaica are on the decline and doctors and nurses are pleased. The update comes from Clinical Coordinator at the Western Regional Health Authority, (WRHA) Dr. Delroy Fray, who is also urging citizens not to become complacent.

Recently, Dr. Delroy fray had been banking on a reduction in COVID-19 hospitalizations to afford doctors and nurses some much-needed relief.

He is now confirming a downward trend in COVID-19 cases in western hospitals, despite wards still over their capacity. Dr. Fray says the number of staff at the Cornwall Regional Hospital who had been out sick weeks ago has lessened.

He notes that the oxygen supply at the hospital remains steady. Meanwhile, Dr. Fray says the “get vaccinated message” has resonated very well with citizens. However, he’s imploring the public not to get complacent, pointing to the importance of the protocols in keeping the numbers down.
