Dr. Roger Hunter- Consultant Neurosurgeon, early home covid treatment practitioner continues to strongly recommend early, home-based treatment by a COVID competent physician in a bid to save lives and reduce the stress on the nation’s hospitals. Consultant neurosurgeon and early home COVID-19 treatment practitioner, Dr. Roger Hunter says he’s treated over 400 patients, from infants to the elderly, free of cost.
However, he says patients still have to grapple with high-priced prescription medication used to treat the virus.
He is also calling on the government to subsidize the cost of the drug remdesivir and make it more available to independent public health providers treating COVID-19 patients at home. He also notes that a pulse oximeter, an infrared thermometer, glucometer, digital scale, and blood pressure machine are crucial to the success of the early home-based treatment regime. But Dr. Hunter says ordinary Jamaicans may not be able to afford these.
He stresses that early treatment of COVID-19 for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated must be prioritized as it saves lives, reduces the burden on hospitals and the huge financial strain on patients.
