Damion Crawford Calls for Unity and Amendments to Noise Abatement Act

The Opposition is adding its voice to the Noise Abatement Act debate, siding with party organizers and promoters.

Opposition Spokesman on Youth and Culture, Damion Crawford is calling for amendments to be made to the Act and says the policy surrounding entertainment zones must be revised to allow for more community involvement. He is also calling for unity within the entertainment sector.

Entertainment zones are areas across the island in which any legal entertainment and sports activity can be staged at any time of day or night without issue as long as the organizers are mindful of the historical value of these sites. These zones are expected to neutralize the problem of noise nuisance.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange last Tuesday announced that her Ministry would be submitting recommendations to the Ministry of National Security for amendments to the Act.
