Criminal Activity Brings 1 Billion USD Into Jamaica

An alarming statistic highlighted by Security Minister Dr Horace Chang Wednesday illustrates how rampant organized crime is in Jamaica. During his Sectoral Debate presentation, Dr Chang outlined ways to topple the billion-dollar giant of organized crime. In March, the law enforcement counterpart to the financial investigations division, the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) reported that over the fiscal year 2021-2022, it investigated 62 financial cases and was instrumental in the seizure of over 95 thousand us dollars, 40 thousand euros and 6 thousand Canadian dollars.
