Vendors at the Cross Road’s Market say they have been plagued by criminals. This is due to praedial larceny and theft of the market vendors’ goods.
Coupled with that, the vendors say the deplorable condition of the market is causing them to suffer.
One vendor says she has been selling in the market for 69 years and has become a target of thieves, despite speaking to the authorities on numerous occasions she feels as though nothing has been done.
Additionally, a Phone Shop Vendor says thieves have made off with a significant amount of money.
“The first break in it was hundreds of thousands, the second one was not so bad because the place was more secure and had an alarm system on it but outside of that the outside perimeter of the shop is not protected. The gate is open every single night…both gates. There’s no security here every single night. It’s very ridiculous,” he says.
To add they say that poor security services over the years has made them a target.
Meanwhile, this frequent customer says the deplorable state of the market also needs to be addressed.
“I have problem walking through the market, I’m smelling these terrible smells….sometimes I’m even afraid to walk in the market and remember it’s a market it should be clean and cleansed.”
