As normality returns to the country following the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, scores of spectators from various segments turned out for the pomp, pageantry, and politics of the Ceremonial Opening of Parliament.
COVID-19 saw the country being transformed into a socially distant space impacting nearly every aspect of society, for two years when the ceremonial opening of parliament often flocked for its fanfare, parades, and personalities became an invite-only event. However, as the world warms up to vaccination and reduced cases, things are seemingly returning to normal.
It was a welcomed change for many who looked forward to the Parliamentary tradition. Among them, future leaders and policymakers steeped in the teaching and learning process metres away at the St George’s Girls School Infant and Primary in Kingston. The Principal expressed relief that the children were again able to witness firsthand politics and governance at play. Watch the report:
