Culture professor at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Professor Donna Hope is the latest to voice dissatisfaction with the recently concluded one-night dancehall show, Sting 2022. In a social media post, the Cultural Guru argued Sting should “pack tings up”, after witnessing several alleged shortcomings.
Sting, held on Christmas Monday, ended prematurely after a brawl behind the scene. Professor hope notes the greatest one-night show’s viability is not questionable, however, she says the product being offered should be clear. She says since its introduction in the 1980s sting has been a hallmark of dancehall but believes it will lose its impact if not handled carefully.
In an earlier interview, with CVM LIVE, entertainment production specialist Ricky Chin explained a strategic plan that could aid in the production of the show, similarly, professor hope believes if sting should exist beyond this year the packaging must reflect the satisfaction patrons anticipate.
