Prime Minister Andrew Holness during the Sitting of the House of Representatives said the curfew hours will remain the same. He is urging Jamaicans to be immunized if they are yet to do so, in the same breath is calling on the vaccinated to take their booster shot, as soon as they are able to.

As a result of the fourth wave, the cabinet decided to extend the existing measures for another two weeks, until Thursday, January 27. Curfew hours will remain from 10 pm to 5 am the following morning until Jan 28, 2022.
In his presentation, the Prime Minister expressed his delight in the resumption of school. Mr. Holness says he understands that the opening of school is not without risks.

To encourage and to identify and re-engage the student’s Education Minister reported that her ministry will launch a “Yard to Yard, Find the Child” initiative, operate for three months from January to March. She also shares insights on a ‘Family Connect’ app that can collect data and serve the ministry, while ensuring that students are accounted for. The “Specialist Teacher” model is also a flagship initiative by the Ministry, which she explains will reduce the knowledge inequity in the education sector. February 1 is the launch date for the extra lessons which will be implemented in schools, with a psychological resource programmme.
Former Minister of State for Education Youth and Information, Robert Nesta Morgan was praised by the Education Minister for the work and energy he brought into the ministry and wished him well on his new assignment – Minister without Portfolio.
