“Balance Needed Between Lives and Livelihoods” – David Wan.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced last November, that the Work from Home Order was to be lifted in time for the New Year. However, amid the possible fourth wave of the Coronavirus, President of the Jamaica Employers Federation, (JEF) David Wan says the government must strike a balance in the COVID-19 pandemic. He notes the government’s decision surrounding the Work from Home Order will be driven by the COVID-19 numbers.
Jamaicans began working from home in March 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
President of the Jamaica Employers Federation, says the government had placed a major focus on the public sector regarding the Work from Home Order while the private sector was more flexible. He notes if cases continue to climb, the Prime Minister may revert to the previous order.
In relation to the public sector, the COVID-19 numbers are being monitored along with the Omicron Variant.
