DCP Bailey: 15 Mass Shootings this Month Alone

Head of the Constabulary’s Crime Portfolio, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey says domestic terrorism is a reality in Jamaica. He says while the country considers an amendment to certain legislations, it must be noted these are not normal circumstances adding there have been numerous multiple murders this month. 

He was speaking shortly after gunmen sprayed bullets at patrons of a football match in St Catherine leaving three people dead and six others injured. One viral video of the horrifying encounter proved the person recording was near one of the victims from the whistling of the bullet confirmed to be from automatic guns. In the end, nine people were shot, 3 fatally including the intended target. The female has been identified as Tamara Eubanks, the other victims, Jerome Squire, and a man known only as ‘Curry’, all workers at the Jamaica Broilers Company Ltd. 

The armed men were reportedly traveling in a white Toyota mark x and a white Nissan Tiida. DCP Bailey says Squire who was suspected to have stolen some firearms was the intended target. He insists domestic terrorism is a reality in Jamaica, one that ought to be treated within the law, adding the police are committed to rescuing the country from preying criminals.
