UK Flight With Deported Nationals Lands In Jamaica

Deported Nationals – Thirteen Jamaicans were deported from the United Kingdom on Wednesday morning. The nationals were among a batch of about 50 Jamaicans which then became 36 and now 13 who were scheduled to return home after serving time for crimes in the country.

The controversial flight from the United Kingdom landed in Jamaica around 6:30 am on Wednesday. It was carrying 13 nationals who according to the UK had combined jail terms of more than 100 years. The crimes include murders, manslaughter, drug dealing, and robbery among others.

CVM Live understands that the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston was swarming with police and military presence who whisked them away.

But unlike previous flights, they were not taken to the Dill Road location but to a government-run quarantine cite. CVM Live noticed police presence at the facility and employees in personal protective gears.

Initially, there were 50 Jamaicans to be deported but according to the UK’s Minister of Home Office, Chris Philip, last-minute tactics by immigration firms prevented the offenders from boarding the flight. Philips is quoted saying, “these individuals had every opportunity to raise the claims in the days and weeks leading up to the flight; however, a significant number of claims were not submitted until hours before the flight was due to leave – meaning murderers and rapists have been able to stay in the UK”

But Dr. Jaslin Salmon who is the president of the National Organization of Deported Migrants (NODM) says there is no evidence that the migrants cause crimes when they return to their home country either.

The NODM works with Jamaicans deported from the UK. Dr. Salmon says a member of the group observed the processing of the migrants.

The Deported Nationals will be tested for COVID-19 and provided with care packages during the quarantine period. After which, they will help them to transition into the Jamaican society.
