Following the unveiling of a newly erected sign in honour of Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie in one Manchester community, the sign was destroyed by residents who held strong political views.
Our news team spoke with area Councilor for the North West Manchester Division who says the political rivalry is pointless. Councilor Faith Sampson-Nickle further noted the political rivalry is pointless, as it does not serve the residents or the leaders of both political parties. She indicated this project was well in the works since 2021 when it was agreed at a meeting with residents and MP Mickael Phillips, to have a sign named after the Local Government Minister.
