Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn says she is pleased with the efforts displayed by the police and other stakeholders. She commends the police and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) for their investigative efforts, that led to the arrest of Police Constable, Noel Maitland, relating to the disappearance of social media influencers, Donnalee Donaldson, who has been missing for over two weeks.
Llewellyn says during the case review on Tuesday, she was pleased with sufficient evidence gathered by the police, for an arrest to be made.
She however says Maitland is yet to be charged as the investigation is not complete. Despite outcry from relatives and friends of Donaldson, for Maitland’s child’s mother to be named as a suspect in her disappearance. Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, however says there is no evidence to link Maitland’s child’s mother at this time.
The Director of Public Prosecutions is insisting the police must have reasonable cause to suspect that an individual is connected at the threshold required by law. Meanwhile, she is discouraging persons who use social media, from posting misleading information for likes or monetization for their channel. Watch the full report:
