Dr. Brown Burke Questions Education Face-to-Face Status

Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Dr. Angela Brown Burke is weighing in on the announcement of the more than 40,000 students that have so far, received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. This comes as the Government has suspended the first dose administering of the Pfizer vaccine to ensure that there is sufficient supply to administer persons with second doses who will be due shortly.

The Ministry of Education and Information has set a target vaccination rate of at least 65 percent to facilitate a resumption of face-to-face classes. But with the recent suspension of the first-dose administration of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the idea of going back to the classrooms is seemingly in the distant future.

Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Dr. Angela Brown Burke believes it is time for the Ministry to consider other options. This she says while noting that a vaccine is not yet available for students under 12. Dr. Browne burke is imploring the Education Ministry not to wait until another vaccine is manufactured before engaging the little ones in face-to-face learning. Dr. Browne Burke also has questions regarding the more than 40,000 students vaccinated so far.
