Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton and his team toured the Cornwall Regional Hospital earlier today.
This follows the Opposition’s lamentation on the lengthy delay in the Rehabilitation Plan.
According to Dr. Tufton, the building and the approach to the renovation does require a rethink and he intends to go to Cabinet with a set of proposals on the matter.
Since 2016, the main building at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St. James has been undergoing major rehabilitation.
It is 2021 and the facility is still an active construction site.
However, Dr. Tufton maintains that the delays experienced could have been avoided and the contractors are not entirely to be blamed.
Dr. Tufton has in the past suggested that international expertise could significantly improve the renovation project.
He sought to dispute the estimated cost of the project of between 10 and12 billion dollars that was hinted at by the Opposition.
