Speaking at the Health Care Professional Leadership Graduation, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton challenged the new graduates to see themselves as change agents, providing solutions to issues in the sector.
Health Minister Tufton commended the graduates at the health care professional leadership graduation, for their successful completion of the leadership program. The 6-month program offered by the University of Technology, Jamaica had 37 participants who received certification in the course.
Dr Tufton underscores the importance of the leadership programme, in a time where the health care sector will see constant change. Though similar, Dr Tufton says as leaders will continue to face new challenges that require sufficient solutions to address those issues.
He says coming on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic there is no greater challenge to leadership in its traditional form, due to what was learnt from COVID-19 and the post COVID-19 experience. He notes leadership and traditional leadership is at risk of becoming redundant.
The new leaders are expected to serve to enhance strategic approaches in their respective critical roles across the healthcare system. Watch the report:
