After the official lift of the prohibition order by the National Water Commission (NWC) last week, there was a shared moment of relief. However, residents in Duhaney Park, St Andrew are singing a different tune.
The residents say they have been without water for more than three months and they’re concerned about their health and that of their children. A pregnant woman also expresses her fear of diseases caused by lack of water. They are blaming the NWC for neglecting their access to clean water and putting them at risk.
They say they have been relying on rain water for domestic and household duties. But despite not having water the residents say they are still receiving bills from the nwc .
The residents say they’re frustrated trying to survive without the necessity.
