E-Learning Jamaica distributes over 200,000 tablets to several schools – As a bid to bridge the digital divide in the education system, e-learning Jamaica held a handing over ceremony which granted numerous students in South West St Andrew with one of over 200,000 tablets available for distribution.
Several schools in the St. Andrew south west constituency benefited from a handing over ceremony of over 200,000 tablets at the Tavaris Primary School Recently.
CEO of e-learning Jamaica Keith Smith says the company is nearing the final stages of distribution.
Minister of Education Fayval Williams who was also in attendance says the main focus of the distribution process will be for students in grades 4-6 and grades 10-13, as those are the grades that engage in major exams. She shared that she is impressed with the collaborative efforts from corporate bodies, who have accumulated over a hundred million dollars. While St Andrew South West Member of Parliament Angela Brown-Burke applauded the initiative she raised concerns about parents who are ill-equipped to assist their children with online learning
