As the academic year comes to a close, concerns are being raised regarding the upcoming school year. Minister of Education, Youth, and Information, Fayval Williams on Wednesday announced the official launch of a committee, to improve the learning environment.
Speaking at the launch of the Education Transformation Oversight Committee (ETOC), representatives from UNICEF say it is an opportunity to transform the education sector. The committee will focus on improving 243 underperforming schools and the student’s overall learning environment.
Minister Fayval Williams says the areas for improved educational focus ought not to be limited to the classroom. She notes that the initiative to extend the high school programme is still underway, with several community centers assisting schools that lack space.
With PEP examination results slated to be released later this week, she says the results will further provide the committee with areas that must be prioritized in the education sector. More details in the report:
