Leighton Johnson, the Principal of the Muschett High School in Trelawny believes the government’s intention to introduce paternity leave for the first time in the public sector is a significant step in stabilizing homes, thereby fixing some of the societal ills.
While noting that absentee fathers are blamed for many forms of moral decay, he goes further to say that fathers being a positive influence on their sons, will not only help to heal the nation.
Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke says the specifics of the paternity leave are being finalized, adding that the appropriate circular giving effect to the compensation changes will be sent to government workers by September 30. Watch the report below:
