The ongoing violence in sections of Seaview Gardens, St Andrew has resulted in a heightened security presence and a 48-hour curfew. The curfew imposed on Monday is to lift Wednesday (October 5). The measure is expected to allay residents’ fears but some are still tight-lipped and terrified.
Eighteen people were taken in custody within the last 24 hours. This follows a viral video on social media depicting a violent episode, as men were seen hotly pursuing two men while firing gunshots at them throughout the community of Seaview Gardens on Sunday. The shootout had innocent bystanders scurrying for cover. The shooting escapade forced businesses shut, and left properties destroyed.
The community showed evidence of ongoing gun violence. Parents eagerly await the dismissal of school to collect their children. Residents say the culture of violence transcends generations. One woman tells our news team her husband narrowly escaped death on Sunday as her car was sprayed with bullets. Watch the full report:
