Election 2020: Campaigning On Promises

As with every General Election, parties are expected to provide their manifesto outlining their plan if they are elected to be Government. Following the announcement of election dates, both parties had spoken to their achievements and plans but many are questioning whether it is enough for electorates to vote. Following the announcement of General election in Parliament this week, the Opposition People’s National Party began their campaign on building Jamaica – speaking on crime and violence and plans to develop the country

“When we look around your community, when you look around the whole of East Central St. Catherine, You see what the needs of the people are,” said Dr. Peter Phillips, leader of the Opposition.

The Jamaica Labour Party have also started their campaign seeking another term in office.

“Jamaica has been winning over the last four and half years of the Holness administration,” shared Campaign Chair Olivia Grange. “Working through a partnership for prosperity we made significant improvements in every area of national life.”

At the same time, electorates are already sharing views on both parties indicating their expectations and views on the manifestos.
