After flood waters covered sections of the island Tuesday, concern grew among many about the state of the country’s drainage system.
CVM LIVE spoke with the Communication and Customer Services Manager at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw, who testified to the standard of the drains. Still, he says when it comes to natural disasters, the chances of eradicating flooding are never zero.
Shaw explains that drainage systems of different sizes and quality, roads located at high and low elevations, and areas that are natural flood zones are factors that can manifest weaknesses in how flooding is managed.
