Family Farming Considered The Heartbeat Of Jamaican Agriculture



The Jamaica Agricultural Society has vowed to play a leading role in supporting the resuscitation of small scale family farming.

This is in support of the Government of Jamaica signing as part of the league in 2018 to the Decade of Family Farming Program spearheaded by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.

The JAS as the role of civil entity proposed a permanent crop programme to replace sugar cane lands that will no longer be in production.

The concept proposes that a modern nursery system and 200,000 acres of permanent crops on government and privately owned lands.
