The family of 17-year-old Jalisa McGowan is still awaiting answers regarding the teen’s death. It has been almost one month since the incident in which Jalisa’s mother cried for medical attention at the doors of the University Hospital of the West Indies for her asthmatic daughter.
After the alleged lack of urgency at the hospital, Jalisa died leaving the hospital’s role in question and the family in grief.
Jalisa’s mother, Narda McKoy, says since the day of her daughter’s death there have been no reports on the hospital’s role.
Dr. Peter Glegg, Senior Legal Officer at the University Hospital of the West Indies says the investigation is now at the ministerial level. He however notes that, the investigation will take some time to ensure all corners concerning the case is scoured.
Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton says he is currently awaiting reports from the Chief Medical Officer’s office.
Calls placed to the Chief Medical Officer’s cell phone went unanswered.
