Amidst the government’s latest efforts to provide early intervention, and mitigation strategies farmers in St Thomas have renewed calls for assistance in their quest to eradicate the deadly beet armyworm.
This comes after severe damage to onion and scallion production in the parish that has left many farmers worried. After losing millions of dollars over 2 years ago the reality of the beet armyworm is again haunting one St Thomas farmer. Despite the many strategies and efforts by the government to mitigate the impact of the beet armyworm in Jamaica.
The farmers in western St Thomas have amplified their call for assistance against the scourge.
