After immigrating to Canada, Jamaican farmworker, Kerian Burnett, finds herself in a distressing situation as she battles cancer. Diagnosed in 2022, just a few months after her arrival, she now faces the daunting challenge of covering her medical expenses. Unfortunately, her province lacks insurance policies or coverage specifically tailored for contractual farmworkers, exacerbating the financial burden she must bear. As a result, Burnett is in desperate need of assistance to alleviate the overwhelming costs associated with her treatment. The woman who spoke with our reporter Kimberly Henry recalls how her contract was terminated by her employer and was being forced out of the country upon her diagnosis. Watch the report:
