The community of Tawes Meadows in Spanish Town, St Catherine remains shaken after Tuesday’s killing of three people in the area. The incident comes on the heels of four murders in the community just last week.
A 48-hour curfew has been imposed since, but the residents are not comforted by the police presence. The recent shooting incidents in the Spanish Town have created a tense and fearful environment for the residents.
Head of the St Catherine North Police Division, Senior Superintendent Howard Chambers, says the curfew is expected to thwart the gang activities responsible for the killings. Though police sources say they are anticipating retaliation once the curfew is lifted.
Majority of the residents in the Tawes Meadows vicinity of Spanish Town were tight-lipped, however one resident says fear is crippling the community.
