Finance Minister Addresses Challenges of Teacher Reclassification

The visible tension surrounding the reclassification of public sector workers, specifically teachers, was addressed by Minister of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke during his appearance on CVM LIVE on Wednesday evening.

The Minister suggests comparisons may be depriving a number of stakeholders of a clear understanding of the process. Earlier in the day, reports of sit-ins by teachers reverberated through the news cycle, as teachers expressed their refusal to accept the current terms of the new wage offer, which will be taken off the table on March 31. We sought to get to the root of the disconnect between the Ministry and the Educators. The Minister admitted that the process of reform is far more complex than previously attempted.
