The top floor of the hope brooks painting studio at the Edna Manley School of Visual Arts was destroyed by fire earlier today. Attention was called to the fire by a student who was nearby. The Fire Brigade responded quickly to contain the blaze.
Public Relations Officer for the Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks says there were students in separate studios at the time. The Brigade was alerted by one student who was on location. The upper floor of the Hope Brooks Painting Studio was destroyed.
Public Relations Manager at the Edna Manley College, Colleen Douglas, says the Fire Department was assessing the damage into the early afternoon on Friday, September 17, and that they are now awaiting on a report on the cause of the fire. The school will also be providing counseling for students who may have been affected.
