Fire Destroys Over $5 Million Worth of Furniture, Equipment

An inferno wreaked havoc on Cumberland Road, Spanish Town, Tuesday, February 22, devastating a home and furniture shop. CVM Live spoke to the shop owner, Wills Mowatt who believes it was an act of arson.

He says the fire started in the shop destroying over 5 million dollars worth of equipment, spreading uncontrollably to a neighbouring house. Despair and disbelief, as described by residents of Cumberland Road, Spanish Town after the devastating loss of a home and furniture shop on Tuesday.

CVM Live found out the fire commenced from the furniture shop expanding to a neighbouring house. Shop owner Wills Mowatt, strongly believes this could be an act of arson. Mowatt says he lost over 5 million dollar worth of equipment in the blaze, adding no furniture could be saved due to the swift flames.

Meanwhile, with 8 workers and no equipment, Mowatt’s seeking help from the public to rebuild.
